About Christopher Wood

Christopher Wood is an Australian born contemporary guitarist and composer. Inspired by the rich tradition of flamenco guitar and dance, his technique and mastery of the instrument is distinctly flavoured. His playing is uniquely rhythmical, boldly striking sounds from the guitar, expressing movements and energy of dance.

His compositions hold these rhythms in their heart but also soar melodically, moving beyond the bounds of traditional flamenco seamlessly blending Indian, Arabic and Celtic idioms.

Playing both traditional flamenco guitar and the black flamenco or concert flamenco guitar, Chris has performed widely in concerts, recitals, on radio and television.

Chris lives in the rural quiet of the Strzelecki Ranges, Victoria, Australia.
